The benefits of taking R’s KOSO before and during travel
Certified Integrative Nutrition Coach Lana Maile explains the benefits of taking R’s KOSO before and during travel.
Lana says, “I am someone who LOVES traveling. But what I have to admit I don’t love is how my immune system can be compromised with the weird and extended hours of running around, the number of people in the airport/ plane, and sanitation. What I also don’t LOVE is how my body takes like 3 days to get settled before I poop. Or at least that was me before when I didn’t know how I can prep my body before and during my travels!”.
First, let’s talk about the immune system. There’s nothing worse than getting a cold while on vacation or feeling run-down after coming back and needing to go to work.
Now, of course, you want to ensure you support your immune system daily but taking that extra step in helping it before that traveling can be a great way to have that added protection against germs and nasties you may encounter.
As 70–90% of our immune system resides in our Gastrointestinal (GI) tract, supporting our gut health is one of the easiest ways to support our immune system. This includes stress-reduction activities as well as eating foods containing prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics such as R’s KOSO!
R’s KOSO is fermented with over 100 plant foods including mushrooms, fruits, and veggies. It is rich in probiotics, prebiotics, and postbiotics which are essential for robust gut flora. Studies have shown that probiotics play a vital role in promoting the innate immune system. Thus, taking R’s KOSO is a great way to stay energized and vibrant during your travels.
Constipation or traveler’s diarrhea
So now let’s talk about poop. Because as uncomfortable as travel can be, you don’t want this to be something you have to worry about. With the right preparation, you can avoid all that discomfort (and not feel embarrassed).
It is common to have constipation or traveler’s diarrhea during trips.
Constipation results from your body being tense and wanting to hold things in, diarrhea can be stress and your body wants to release, so it doesn’t have to deal with it while you’re dealing with other stuff (like travel). In addition different environments, weather, food, water, and sleep patterns can all impact your regularity.
Luckily, studies show some bacterial strains help alleviate constipation through various mechanisms, such as promoting gastrointestinal motility and softening the stool for constipation, and balancing the gut flora to prevent traveler’s diarrhea. R’s KOSO contains a wide variety of probiotics, including various bifidobacterium and lactobacillus species which help to promote gut health and regularity.
It is harder to have balanced meals when you are traveling. R’s KOSO is not a multivitamin supplement, however, you can use it to supplement important nutrients, as it contains varieties of nutrients such as probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics, acetic acid, Phenolics, vegetable, and fruits nutrients, Vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, C, D, E, and K), Mineral (calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chloride, magnesium, iodine, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, iodine), 17+ Amino Acids, Short-chain fatty acid.
Traveling should be an enjoyable experience and following all of these tips here will help make your body and mind feel more at peace during your adventures!
