In North America, inner beauty often means someone has a beautiful personality. In Japan, the definition of inner beauty is a little different. It refers to the physical beauty of your inside. In other words, what you consume builds your beautiful body.
Although there are many factors that affect inner beauty such as hormones, genetics, and environment, your diet has a huge impact on your health. Tina explains that she consumes fermented foods daily to maintain healthy skin.

1. More nutritional
Tina mentioned in the video “vitamin B2 found in soybeans increases 10 times when it fermented into natto”. As she says, fermentation increases the number of nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, magnesium, iron, calcium, and zinc content and also bioavailability in some foods.
2. Easier to absorb
Many nutrients are broken down into smaller pieces during fermentation.
Fermentation also increases the digestibility of plant proteins. Plant protein has poor digestibility compared to animal protein. Poor protein digestibility may result in poor absorption of protein in the gut and undigested proteins which can cause food allergies.
3. Boost beneficial gut bacteria
Fermented foods contain probiotics which are beneficial bacteria that support your health. Fermented foods also contain prebiotics (energy sources for friendly bacteria in your gut) and postbiotics (by-products of friendly bacteria) that help keep your gut healthy.
4. Might help slow down the aging process
Fermented foods are great for aging care since they contain a high amount of antioxidants. Studies also show that probiotics may slow the aging of the skin by restoring the balance between free radical scavengers and the free radical production that results from UV light, pollution exposure, and exposure to environmental toxins.
